Welcome

I have lived in the Washington area since 1966 and been a psychologist in private practice since 1980.
I received my Ph.D
from The American University.

Initially I worked in Montgomery County Public Schools as a teacher and, after four years, a guidance counselor.
After additional training and education, I served as a specialist known as a Student Resource Teacher (SRT).
In this capacity, I worked with students in grades 7 through 12 who had school adjustment and behavioral issues as well as learning difficulties.

I was also a consultant to teachers and parents regarding behavior and adjustment issues of adolescents. This experience has been invaluable since I went into private practice.

This is a profession that requires many years of training and experience to reach your peak as a helping person and I have learned a great deal in my 30 years of private practice.

I have a general practice but SPECIALIZE IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS: premarital counseling, marriage counseling, sex therapy, communication skills, conflict resolution skills, anger management, sports psychology, substance abuse and helping family members get substance abusers into treatment. I work with adolescents, adults, couples and families.

I do a great deal of couples counseling and also help resolve interpersonal conflicts between business partners, siblings and other family members. I also do divorce counseling to help families have a “healthy divorce” for everyone, especially the children.

Please feel free to contact me directly at (301) 816-8985.  We can talk briefly and I can answer any questions you might have.  Please do not feel an obligation to schedule an appointment. I prefer direct contact because counseling is such a personal relationship.  It’s for that reason that I don’t use Email. I look forward to talking with you.
